Basement Build

Step 1: Permits & Plans

1A. Starting the permit application online

Overview

Time: 30min
Costs: Permit Fee of $115
Difficulty: Easy

Steps

Your permit application cannot be completed online. (A/N - I believe this is because there is a wet-bar which is outside of the Typical Finished Basement document) For Finished Basement Residential permit, please visit the Permit Application Center at 12055 Government Center Parkway, 2nd Floor, in the Herrity Building, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. or call 703-222-0801, TTY 711.

Drawings, plans or other documentation of the proposed work may be required. You may be asked to pay for all or part of your permit fee at the time of application.

Inspections for issued permits may be scheduled online or by calling 703-631-5101, TTY 711.

1B. Building the plan to submit in-person

Overview

Time: 5hrs
Costs: Home Designer of $100 OR Chief-Architect of $199/month
Difficulty: Medium
